This question that why Iran has taken different security policy in countries like Syria, Iraq and Yemen, is one of the most important questions in this field. In the form of Western and Materialistic theories and concepts, in response to this question, many explanations have been proposed that based on concepts such as military deterrence, pre-emptive attack, preventive action and offensive realism. This article with a mental and critical attitude seeks to provide alternative explanation. The explanation is based on this assumption that defense and security policy is rooted in identity and Iran's security policy as Islamic country is rooted in Its Islamic identity. Accordingly, the relationship between the Islamic identity of Iran and its security policy was investigated from four aspects: Impacts of Identity on the definition of security interests, definition of threats, the principles and foundations of defense policy and security attitude of other countries about Iran. This alternative explanation is not only explain Iran's military and security role in the region's countries but also justify and legitimize it. Because this policy is based on Iran’s Islamic identity and values
