Spiritual and moral values are currently undergoing social re-evaluation. As a spiritual and moral value, patriotism plays an important role in personality education. Patriotic education is a state priority that requires special methods. Patriotism is a spiritual and moral value that is obligatory to military school students. The article offers a theoretical analysis of patriotic education in institutions supervised by the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia. Such standard methods of analysis as generalization and interpretation made it possible to analyze the regulatory framework related to patriotism and patriotic education. The analysis covered the concept of patriotism as part of military school curriculum, methods of its development, and the specifics of professional patriotism. The comprehensive survey of various methods of fostering patriotism in military school students revealed some basic principles and methods of raising patriotism in education institutions under the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia.
