MEASURES TO CONTROL ECOLOGICAL WEEDS IN VINEYARDS
Abstract
ABSTRACT Grapevine (Vitis vinifera L.) is a widespread and highly valuable horticultural crop that has been cultivated for centuries as a source of fresh fruit, wine, juice and raisins. (Amelia Martins Delgado et al 2017., Matthew A. Jenks et al 2011., Stephen Skelton, 2007, Rombough, 2002). Romania has one of the oldest wine making traditions in the world, its viticulture dating back more than 2000 years. Weed control is an important practice in vineyard management. Traditionally, the primary objectives for controlling weeds are to conserve soil moisture and reduce the competition for essential mineral nutrients required by the grapevines. Organic viticulture involves growing grapes without the use of industrially manufactured fertilizers (sometimes called, chemical fertilizers) and herbicides, pesticides, or fungicides for weed, pest and disease control.
