Transplantation is an important branch of medicine that not only saves lives, but also creates complex challenges for society. The number of transplant surgeries in the world is increasing every year, which is due to the improvement of the quality of medical care, as well as the awareness of the population and medical personnel about the transplantation procedure. Ukraine still lacks an effective transplant management system. In fact, the correct mechanism of collection, preservation, transportation and transplantation of anatomical materials as a closed regulated management system has not been implemented. Unfortunately, the current situation forces many citizens of our country to go abroad for treatment, and the state thereby finances the development of health care systems in other countries, spending budget funds on it. The article provides data on the importance of transplantology. The author has presented the statistics of transplants in Ukraine performed by various medical centers, their dynamics, number and structure are shown. The peculiarities of the management of transplantology in Ukraine are substantiated. The need to improve the management system of organ and tissue transplantation, which is based on the regulation of a large number of legal, ethical and medical aspects, has been noted.
