L’enseignement postsecondaire en pénitenciers canadiens : des professeur·e·s de Cégep entre enseignement et intervention sociale
Abstract
The job of a college-level teacher takes a unique form in Quebec’s penitentiary environment, both in light of the precarious functioning that has been implemented over the years, but mainly through the response of the Cégep and the professors to this functioning. On the one hand, Cégep’s administration have broadened the spectrum of the tasks assigned to its staff; on the other hand, these same teachers have built a relationship to their occupation in which they distance themselves from the coercive powers. Therefore, the hybridization of professions, Cégep’s solution to counter institutionalized precariousness in prison settings, tend to locate the professors between education and social intervention.
