Abstract
Baltasar-George Sage (1740-1824), a conflictive chemist and mining engineer, and one of the last supporters of the phlogiston theory and the old chemical nomenclature, carried on a large number of metallurgical researches, discovered hypophosphoric acid and solid potassium ferrocyanide. His most achievement was the foundation of the School of Mines of Paris.
