To be or not to be Animals. Ontology in Captivity In the past few years, philosophy studies regarding environmental and animal ethics have focused more and more on the relationship between animals and humans. Specifically, the contemporary scientific discussion also centres on using animals as entertainment and its moral issues. By capturing animals, exposing and training them, places like zoos, dolphinaria and circuses cause radical changes in the animal nature. The living conditions have consequential effects on the animal itself, for this reason, keeping animals in captivity changes the essence of animals themselves which are deprived of their specie and individual identity.
