The development of roads in Kurdistan (Ardalan) from Saljuq to Pahlavi era, relying on the strength of Ardalan family

The phenomenon of roads has been one of the necessities of human life. Wherever there have been human communities, roads have been made for communication. Road issue is one of the joint topics between history and geography. The present article attempts to investigate communication potentials in the geographical area Kurdistan province, called Kurdistan Ardalan in the past, and also take a short look at status of roads and communications in the area. Then, it tries to see how the process of developing roads has been from Saljuqs on, and what the effective factors related to the issue were; besides, what the effect of roads is on the establishment of villages in the area. Along with answering these questions, the article is to consider the importance of the great highway of Kurdistan in external communications. Then, drawing attention to Kurdistan and its historical, geographic and natural potentials, we have investigated its transportation lines. Generally, looking at the geographical location of the villages and blocks, it can be concluded that transportation lines of Kurdistan in most cases are exactly the same lines that were available in the past.
