Self-Centered Markers in Modern Social Networks: Educational Media Environment
Abstract
The article considers the current issues of media communication on the Internet. The aim of the work is to identify self-centered markers in the speech of communicants on social networks. The educational component of self-centered communication on the Internet is determined. The role of self-centered markers in the English-language media environment is established based on the comments of Internet portal users. The study material was selected by taking a solid sample and is represented by texts of Internet communicants in English, containing the manifestation of egocentrism of Internet users. The set aim is achieved by using a set of such methods as lexical-semantic, grammatical, stylistic, linguasemiotic analysis, as well as elements of content, discursive, interpretive and quantitative analysis. The work identifies, describes, and illustrates examples of self-centered markers in the modern Internet environment at the lexical and grammatical levels, as well as in the stylistic aspect. It has been established that the main feature of self-centrism virtualization is information acceleration and effort savings. It was revealed that self-centers in English-language social networks resort to abbreviations of words and sentences, the creation of new words and phrases that replace entire sentences, the use of graphic signs, etc. A comprehensive analysis has shown that we can talk about the emergence of a global permanently transforming language of the egocentric of social networks, where each communicant changes and reorganizes the language for the convenience of self-expression, not caring about whether his communication partners will be able to understand it, but at the same time wanting to be noticed, noted and understood. In this regard, the educational aspect of the media discorse is implemented, which allows you by certain markers to fix and recognize the egocentric in the process of network media communication, and in accordance with this, build a process of interaction with him. The novelty of this study is to identify lexical, grammatical, stylistic self-centered markers in the speech of communicators on the Internet portals and popular social networks. In the future, it is possible to identify and compare the verbal features of self-centered markers in a network media resource in different linguacultures in educational perspective. It should be emphasized that this topic is promising in the study of the linguapragmatic aspect of the verbal actions of the egocentric on the Internet when expressing different emotions.
