This article gives rise to reflections on dropout in Engineering courses and presents an analysis of possibilities of applying educational data mining technologies together with digital mediation resources as a way to act in the mitigation of this problem. These technological aspects are being used success‐ fully in early detection of behaviors associated with the lunderachievement and drop out. Being that one of the aspects that draw attention in the context of courses in the areas of engineering, we consider the importance of mapping as‐ sociated factors, enabling early diagnosis of dropout and the consequent edu‐ cational actions for its reversal.
