The paper examined trends in own production, imports of electricity and natural gas, dynamics of tariffs increasing while procurement of primary energy resources, production and sales of energy to the country consumers. As an instrument for analysis the model is used for calculation of the energy security level, based on official statistical information and using the indicative analysis as well as the results of processing and forecast of indicators, characterizing different data sets, referring to the current situation in the different sectors of the economy, including environmental information. To ensure comparability of certain time series (flow of information), the system of relative units is used, in which as the basic value is used the first element of the time series. It was shown that the worsening of energy security of the country occurs, and is it possible the transition from the area, defined as pre-crisis, to crisis area by 2017. As critical structures in terms of energy security are own generating capacities, sectors of transmission and distribution of electricity and heat, investments levels and situation in economy, insufficiency of own energy resources. Ceasing of operation of district heating power stations CHP-1 and CHP-2 could lead to considerable worsening of the country’s energy security. Simple reduction of energy consumption in the country does not lead to increased energy security
