Abstract: Today, the Algerian government is actively working towards embracing new digital technologies into its educational system. However, their actualuse is still limited to basic and technical usage. In this respect, the present study not only highlights the crucial role that ICT training plays in enhancing teachers’ digital literacy and professional development but also the possible benefits it can bring to students’ achievements and technology integration. Findings are gathered using a questionnaire administered to a random sample of fourteen (14) teachers working in the English department at Tiaret University, Algeria. The results indicated that teachers support and reveal positive attitudes towards using ICTs. The absence of technological competence and practical training are the main challenges to adequately using digital technologies. In this regard, ICT training is inevitable in helping teachers respond appropriately to the evolving technological landscape and improving students’ engagement and performance. Moreover, integrating technology into teachers’ training is crucial, especially in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) age. Keywords: ICT; digital literacy; ICT training; professional development
