La victime et le témoin durant la dictature militaire au Brésil : une anthropologie de la mémoire
Abstract
This text aims to reflect on violence related suffering through the study of two types of figures: witnesses and victims, in the context of contemporary memories of the Brazilian military dictatorship (1964-1985). Here, we analyse the way in which these figures have been constructed throughout the process by which State violence has been designated, positing that the inexpressible nature of experiences of violence has less to do with the subjective difficulty or impossibility of talking about them on the part of those who lived through these experiences, than with the absence of a space in which they can be listened to and elaborated upon.
