Abstract

Novel by Olga Slavnikova Dragonfly, enlarged to the size of a dog: metaphysics and poetics The article analyzes the novel by Olga Slavnikova Dragonfly, enlarged to the size of a dog, reveals the metaphysical meaning of the writing and the features of poetics, due to the artistic nature of the text. The first novel is of particular interest implemented the principles of ‘school’ of metaphysical realism, the theoretical development of which belongs to the founder of a new direction in modern literature, philosopher and writer Yuri Mamleev. The experience of ‘beyond knowledge of reality’, which transforms author’s optics, is embodied in the novel by Slavnikova. The author focuses on the ‘invisible man’, his inner life and attitude to the world. The choice of narrative perspective contributes to the extension of reality depicted in the text (the explanation of emptiness, loneliness, darkness, nothingness, substitution), allows the author to look into the dark abyss of coexistence and dependence heroines – mother and daughter – each other, their mutual love and hatred, confusion and despair. Penetration into the depths of human consciousness and soul, presented in the novel, is such that it can change the reader’s idea of a person. Touching the ‘incomprehensible’ allows Slavnikova ‘to go beyond the boundaries of logical and discover a different dimension of existence’ (S. Frank).
