EFFECT OF EXTRACTS OF SWEET FLAG, ACORUS CALAMUS ON THE MATURE LARVAE AND ADULT FLIES OF CHRYSOMYA BEZZIANA

Abstract

Extracts of Sweet flag, Acorns calamus was tested against mature larvae and adult flies of C. bezziana. The extracts of Acorns calamus particularly the petroleum ether extract significantly reduced pupation, adult emergence, longevity and fecundity when fed to mature larvae. In adult flies, the extracts produced total sterility by inhibiting the development of ovarian follicles.
