The Archive of the Fabbriceria di San Francesco in Bologna
Abstract
The archive of the Fabbriceria di San Francesco is one of the most organized collections of documents about the activity and the ideological and stylistic orientation of Alfonso Rubbiani, director of the restoration on behalf of the institution. This documents collection is extremely interesting for the history of the city of Bologna which, at the turn of the Twentieth century, became one of the places in Italy where the new aesthetic sensibility was elaborated. Recorded between 1880 and 1932, these papers anticipate the establishment of the Fabbriceria of the Franciscan Temple and witness its creation and work. Since the Seventies they have been the starting point of many studies revaluating artistic events of the late Nineteenth century in Bologna, with a peculiar focus to applied arts and restoration.
