The purpose of the study is to identify thermodynamic processes in the social system as a factor of legal liberalization. Methodology. Methodological tools are selected in accordance with the purpose, specifics of the object and subject of research. In particular, the dialectical method of scientific knowledge of socio-legal phenomena in their contradictions, development and changes was used, which made it possible to represent society as a thermodynamic system. Special research methods used in the article are: method of system analysis, comparative law and modeling. Scientific novelty. The concept of integrated thermodynamic indicators of society is introduced. The influence of the dependence between integrated thermodynamic indicators on the liberalization of the legal system is proved. It is argued that the change of integral thermodynamic indicators occurs in accordance with the objective laws that correspond to the basic gas laws in physics and establish a pairwise dependence of these indicators. Conclusions. Within the description of society as a thermodynamic system, the essence of such its integral indicators is substantiated: a social activity (total socially significant activity of individuals and social groups); social tension (specific state of public consciousness and behavior); social freedom (related to a set of social norms and mechanisms for their implementation). It is stated that competent social management should be based on the concept of self-organization of the social system and consist in identifying the states-attractors of society and stimulating the processes of objective movement to these states
