La camorra prima della “camorra”. Discorso pubblico e radici dell’antimafia a Pagani negli anni Settanta

Abstract

The research investigates the emergence of the public discourse on Camorra power in Pagani, in the Salerno area, during the 1970s. The analysis is developed starting from the escalation of violence that has hit the town since 1972. It is on this occasion that criminal episodes occur which show a qualitative leap in organized crime. The Camorra, during the seventies, started an expansion process that would increase its power for a long time. Along with this aspect, a strong focus is placed on public discourse. We will see, in short, how and when a public awareness of the Camorra phenomenon is born and in what terms and ways it develops.
