Abstract
School administration has become more and more technical as technology has evolved. Technology is being used to not only for managing systems but also for facilitating communication between home and school, between teachers and pupils, and among teachers. At the same time, the amount of technical information has increased, and all kinds of technical instructions are available. This article discusses the work of the so called super users in school administration. The aim of this article is to analyze to which degree the work of super users in school administration embraces technical communication. The data of this study consists of 14 thematic interviews with super users using Visma InSchool programs. By using content analysis, the data was categorized into themes based on the characteristics of technical communication identified in previous studies. The results of the analysis show that super users are a specific kind of technical communicators in school administration because in their everyday work they create, design, transmit, manage and communicate technical information. This paper is part of an ongoing research project that focuses on the usability of user interfaces from terminological perspective.
