The aim of this study was to explore the perception about the family empowerment during the children's hospitalization from the pediatric nurse and family's point of view. This research used the qualitative design with in-depth interview using the open questions as the guideline. The research was carried out in one of the comfortable rooms in hospital. The sample taken was including 6 people from patients' families and 6 pediatric nurses. The data was analyzed using the Collaizi method. There were three themes identified as the result which were the understanding of family empowerment, the process of family empowerment, and the effect of family empowerment. The conclusion from this study was that the family empowerment approach was possible to be implemented in the pediatric ward without neglecting several barriers that needed to be considered as important. Generally, both families and nurses supported the implementation of the family empowerment approach in giving the nursing care toward the children.
