Abstract
With the adoption of Islam, such personalities as veli, dervish appeared among the Turkic peoples. In the opinion of the people, these people were considered close to Allah and were considered “friends of Allah”. In addition, these people also contributed to the spread of Islam in Anatolia. Various works were written describing the lives of these people, who were called dervish colonizers, such as religious legend, velayetname. According to the information conveyed in these works, these people also possess supernatural abilities. These remarkable properties, called miracles, include such distinctive properties as the ability to raise the dead, heal the sick, and control nature. These miracles performed by veli originate from the Scriptures, mythological narratives and ancient Turkic beliefs. Thanks to the miracle, veli reputation spreads in society more quickly. Thus, many people gathered around veli who believed in him. One of the velis, whose mausoleum is located in different regions of Turkish-Islamic geography and whose name is known, is Koyun Baba. The spiritual journey of Koyun Baba, who devoted herself to Allah, begins with the fact that he sees the Prophet Muhammad in a dream. He then arrives in Osmanjik, Turkey, from Khorasan on the orders of Hz. Ali in a dream, and his spiritual journey ends in Osmanjik. There are many Menakipnames that tell about the life of the Koyun Baba. In this study, the elements of the miracle attributed to the Koyun Baba have been tried to be evaluated from a cultural, religious and mythological point of view.
