The successes of German business in economic cooperation with Russia

Abstract

The author analyzes the role and place of the German business in the foreign economic relations of the Russian Federation, primarily in the field of investment cooperation. 2017 is special for the Russian-German economic cooperation. For the first time in five years, the supply of German machinery and equipment to the Russian market has increased significantly. The companyes of Germany continued active investment expansion into the Russian economy. New special investment contracts were concluded. The economic and political dialogue of the German business community with Russian executive structures and the president of the Russian Federation has become more active. Russian and German business was able to adapt to the mutual sanctions regimes of Russia and the European Union. The new challenge were American extraterritorial sanctions. They can significantly worsen the conditions of bilateral cooperation. The author concludes that thanks to the accumulated potential, German business in the Russian Federation has a high degree of resilience to external negative factors and is able to resist them.
