El gracioso calderoniano en La fiera, el rayo y la piedra
Abstract
This article studies the importance of the three graciosos in Calderón de la Barca’s mythological comedia La fiera, el rayo y la piedra, first performed at the Buen Retiro Coliseum. Within the specific features of courtly theatre, and in relation to the defining features of the gracioso character, Brunel, Lebrón y Pasquín show an increasing independence from their respective masters while establishing solidarity links among themselves, and play a mediating role between the theatrical fiction and the audience by becoming commentators of the main action with their parodic remarks.
