The study of the category "competence of personal growth of a teacher of General education" from the standpoint of psychological and pedagogical approach allowed us to determine the essential and semantic content of the categories "personal growth", "competence of personal growth", "competence deficit". The competence of personal growth of a teacher is understood as a set of knowledge, skills, abilities, and activity techniques aimed at the successful implementation and development of his personal potential. The competence deficit of personal growth of a General education teacher is considered as the difference between the understanding of the semantic essence of the competence necessary for personal growth of a teacher and the teacher's readiness for personal growth. Competence deficits of personal growth of teachers of the General education system were identified by an empirical method: the developed online survey tools were based on diagnostics and included two types of assessment - "external" (assessment "from the outside") and "internal" (self - assessment-assessment of "yourself"). The definition of entire groups allowed us to structure direct diagnostic tools. Three categories of respondents took part in the study: teachers of General education, heads of educational organizations, and representatives of regional institutes of education development. Identification of competence deficits in personal growth of teachers of the General education system allowed us to determine the planes of problem fields that mirror the planes of development of the personal potential of any teacher of the General education system, both as a teacher and as a Manager. The map of competence deficits of personal growth of a teacher developed based on the results of the study contributes to the development of effective actions (on the part of the management of an educational organization, regional institutes of education development) aimed at compensating for the identified deficits.
