POST OCCUPANCY EVALUATION METHOD: CASE STUDY OF GAZİANTEP HASAN KALYONCU UNIVERSITY STUDENT DORMITORIES

Abstract

Post occupancy evaluation method, which is post construction systematic and regular building evaluation process, focuses on users and their requirements in order to examine decisions on building performance in design and construction processes. The information obtained is the basis for future designs to be more successful. Within the scope of this study, Gaziantep Hasan Kalyoncu University Student Dormitories are examined by using “Post Occupancy Evaluation” method. This study includes the introduction of the general characteristics of the dormitory rooms, the main component of the dormitory function, and the application of the Post Occupancy Evaluation method on the rooms. In this method, two basic evaluations were carried out, the evaluation of the performance of the dormitories in terms of user requirements and the examination of user complacency. Evaluations made are based on aesthetic, functional and technical characteristics and the obtained results are presented in graphs. According to the results of this study, within the scope of short, medium and long term planning proposals are stated in order to sustainable improvement of Gaziantep Hasan Kalyoncu University Student Dormitories. According to the results obtained; short, medium and long term planning proposals are presented within the scope of continuous improvement of Gaziantep Hasan Kalyoncu University Student Dormitories.
