Fully coupled stochastic Geomechanical - Geochemical - Reservoir modeling for fracture reservoirs

A significant portion of the world's oil reserves is contained in carbonates reservoirs. Because of the complex hydro-thermo-geomechanical-geochemical processes the uptake of oil from these reservoirs is difficult. In recent decades, many efforts have been made to model these processes in fractured rocks. But on the stochastic nature of these processes there has been done only a few studies. Geochemical models deal with the chemical reactions that take place into fracture and matrix with their principal processes such precipitation dissolution while geomechanical models need to take into account the deformations of the rocks that are the result of the pores and fracture pressure. This paper treats the modeling of these processes from a stochastic point of view by making a model interfere with such parameters and coefficients that are of a stochastic nature, seeing them as random variables. From the geomechanical standpoint we will merge the stochastic nature of these variables with the Biot linear model with uncertain coefficients, while for the stochastic geochemical model we will make use of the Lagrangian model.
