Danos por vendaval em bananais de diferentes cultivares de bananeira (Musa spp.)

Resumo- Destaca-se nesta nota científica a suscetibilidade a danos por ventos fortes em bananais dos cultivares Grande Naine (AAA), SCS451 Catarina (AAB), Branca (AAB), BRS Tropical (AAAB) e Figo Cinza (ABB). Pomares desses cultivares foram avaliados quanto à quebra de pseudocaules ou à queda de plantas de bananeira através de testes de qui-quadrado após serem atingidos por um vendaval. Os resultados obtidos mostraram o cultivar SCS451 Catarina altamente resistente, o cultivar Branca resistente, os cultivares BRS Tropical e Figo Cinza suscetíveis e o cultivar Grande Naine altamente suscetível. Para os cultivares Grande Naine e BRS Tropical a queda das plantas foi o principal tipo de dano, enquanto para os outros cultivares foi a quebra do pseudocaule. Tanto a suscetibilidade ao dano por vento quanto o tipo de dano mais frequente são características genótipo-dependentes. Abstract- Susceptibility of banana plant to wind damage is highlighted in this scientific note for cultivars Grand Nain (AAA), SCS451 Catarina (AAB), Branca (Santa Catarina) (AAB), BRS Tropical (AAAB) and Silver Bluggoe (ABB). The pseudostem break or fall of banana plants of these cultivars in consequence of strong winds were evaluated by chi-square tests after being hit by a windstorm. The results showed that the cultivar SCS451 Catarina was highly resistant, the cultivar Branca was resistant, the cultivars BRS Tropical and Silver Bluggoe were susceptible and the cultivar Grand Nain was highly susceptible. Falling of banana plants was the main type of wind damage for the cultivars Grand Nain and BRS Tropical whereas pseudostem breaking was for the others cultivars. Both the susceptibility to wind damages and the type of damages are genotype-dependent characteristics.
