Currently, there is no specific prevention against most respiratory viruses, the most promising should be considered an increase in nonspecific resistance of the body with the help of immunomodulators with antiviral action, through secondary interferon-inducing activity, providing activation of natural immunity. Aim – evaluation of the effectiveness of the use of meglumine acridon acetate to reduce the incidence of ARI in organized children. Materials and methods. 75 preschool-age children attending the secondary group of preschool N 239 in Kemerovo were under observation for 9 months. To prevent seasonal respiratory morbidity, the drug meglumine acridonacetate (Cycloferon) was used. The results of the study and their discussion. Against the background of prophylactic administration of meglumine acridonacetate, a decrease and disappearance of pathological signs in the nasopharynx were recorded. Clinical improvement on the part of the nasopharynx was confirmed by a statistically significant increase in the cylindrical epithelium (p = 0.0078) and a decrease in the number of neutrophils and eosinophils (p = 0.0056; p = 0.0012). Upon completion of prophylactic administration of meglumine acridonacetate, the level of lysozyme and sIgA continued to increase, reaching maximum values after 3 months of use, and continued to maintain its figures, above the initial ones, up to 9 months. None of the children in the main group had pneumonia, the number of children who had otitis media decreased by 3.5 times (p = 0.0019). The duration of the disease has changed statistically significantly – on average it has decreased by 2 times (p = 0.0129). Conclusion. Timely preventive intake of meglumine acridonacetate in the pre-epidemic period, increasing the level of local immunity, helps to reduce acute respiratory morbidity.
