Urban plays establish a mechanism of dramatic production-reception, in which the women’s dimension stands out in a very special way, since Lope de Vega creates really effective and intriguing game of dramatic mirrors between the main female characters and the female audience, who, in some cases, coincide. Nevertheless, even when both actresses and spectators did not coincide, the eminent women, at whom the plays were aimed, represented the main audience of this type of drama. This is the reason why why domestic plays could be considered as a sort of feminine genealogical drama.
