Prevention of young employees leaving an organization – research results

Objectives The aim of the study is to try to determine the expectations of young people towards work and also towards the employer, the fulfillment of which may prevent employees leaving. Material and methods The study covered 370 students from selected universities in the Wielkopolska region. The selection of universities for the study was deliberate, and the survey was carried out in the period from December 2018 to March 2019, and respondents were provided with paper questionnaires for completion. An auditorium survey was used as a method of collecting data from primary sources prepared during various types of meetings with students. Results Research results prove that in order to engage and retain young people in their organization, it is necessary to provide them with good functioning conditions, not only those material, but in particular those related to the sense of their own dignity, good relationships in the team, proper management style and providing a sense of influence on functioning organizations, and also associated with appreciating their achievements. Conclusions For the purpose of consideration, the following hypothesis was established: the most important factor determining the employee's departure from the organization is remuneration. This hypothesis was rejected. At the same time, actions were proposed to be implemented by employers. Among the most important of them were, among others: respect for employees and their work, adequate remuneration and social package, ensuring ambitious tasks and enabling personal development, limiting monotony and routine, care for good relations and atmosphere, ensuring appropriate working conditions and working time. and proper communication.
