INTRODUCTION: Changes in health institutions closely affect the students attending health departments as they affect healthcare workers. AIM: This study was planned to identify midwifery department students' opinion during the process of change. METHODS: The descriptive study was comprised of 60 voluntary fourth year midwifery students during the spring term of 2013-2014 academic year (N: 65). Literature was reviewed and a 13-item survey form was generated to collect data to determine students' opinion during the change process. Necessary permits were obtained from the Ethics Committee and College Administration to implement the survey. Collected data were analyzed with the help of SPSS 16.0 program which provided the findings given below. RESULTS: 83.3% and 53.3% of the students agreed with the statements 'In my opinion, change must happen' and 'When someone pressures me into changing things, I may tend to resist the change even though I believe the change might be beneficial' respectively. The statements 'I believe changes are unfavorable' and 'I prefer a stable and routine work life instead of change' were disagreed by 60% and 45% of the students respectively. It was also observed that 43.3% of the students were undecided about the statement 'I have sufficient theoretical and practical knowledge about the technological changes in my profession'. Examination of the negative statements in the survey showed that the highest average was obtained for the statement 'I believe changes are unfavorable'(2.43). DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: According to study results, it cannot be claimed that fourth year midwifery students are highly resistant to change. Midwifery students have anxiety in terms of keeping pace with technological changes. It can be suggested that administrators, who will implement changes, should take perceptions of change and expectations from change into account and ensure the participation of employees in order to enable the changes in the organization to be accepted.
