An Investigation of Research on Music Education in Preschool Period

There are many studies in the world about music education which has such an important place in children's life; It is seen that these studies pay attention to the importance of music education in supporting the development areas of children. It is important in this context to study what kind of researches have been done about music education which has important place in the pre-school education process in our country and to determine the scope of these researches. With this purpose, it has been tried to investigate researches from 2000 until today about music education in pre-school period in our country. Totally 25 articles, 27 masters-doctoral dissertations have been reached. The methods and models used in the research have been classified by taking into account the researchers'. From the 25 articles surveyed, 17 of them were research articles; 8 are written in descriptive form. In 15 of the research-based articles, quantitative research method was used; 10 of these articles are in the form survey model and 5 are in the form of experimental model. The number of articles written using the qualitative method among examined articles is 2; The models of the researches of these articles were mentioned as survey and document analysis. It was found out that 20 of the 21 master's thesis were made by quantitative method, 13 of them were survey, and 7 of them were in experimental model only 1 master's thesis was done in the qualitative method. 6 of these thesis were made in Preschool Teaching, 5 in Music Teaching, 5 in Music Education, the rest in Child Development, Classroom Teaching, Art and Design, Turkish Music, Turkish Music Program. In pre-school education, 6 doctoral thesis were written on music education. All of his doctoral thesis were quantitatively patterned and 1 of them were survey and 5 of them were made in the experimental model. 3 of these thesis were in Music Education, 1 of them were in Music Teaching, 1 of them was in Primary Education and 1 of them was in Child Development Program.
