Self-Confidence, Anxiety, and Performance in Gymnastics Athletes
Abstract
The goals of this study is to determine is there a contribution between self-confidence and anxiety on the performance of gymnastic athletes. The population in this study were 105 West Java gymnast athletes. The sample in this study used a random sampling technique, the sample was taken 20% of the population. The instruments used are self-confidence tests (Andrianto, 2016), anxiety (Competitive State Axienty Inventory-2) and gymnastic performance tests (code of points). Analysis of the research data used descriptive statistical analysis techniques and tested the hypothesis by processing data using the statistical product for social science (SPSS) 26 program. The results obtained were: (1) A correlation of r = 0.592 was found with a p-value of 0.005, and a contribution of 35 %. That way there is a significant positive contribution between self-confidence and gymnastic performance. (2) The correlation value is r = -0.597 with a p-value of 0.004 and contributes 35.7%. Thus there is a significant negative contribution between anxiety and exercise performance. (3) The correlation value is 0.663 with a p-value of 0.005 and contributes 44%. That way there is a significant positive contribution between self-confidence and anxiety on gymnastic performance.
