The aim of this paper was to analyze the current state of the curriculum related to the study of team Handball required for a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science and Physical Activity, after years of implementation of the Bologna Plan. This analysis is based on a review of 56 syllabi from 32 of the 42 Spanish public and private universities with the Science Degree in Physical Activity and Sport for the academic year 2014-15. We analyzed the specific elements of these syllabi and their importance relative to the total available sports science curriculum, according to the corresponding required credit hours and the nature and type of subjects offered in that curriculum. This paper also includes an analysis of these syllabi as compared to the teaching requirements established by the Spanish Handball Federation for qualification as a National Handball Coach. The results of these analyses show the Handball curriculum of only 3 Spanish universities fully satisfies the requirements of the Federation for qualification as National Handball Coach.
