SPEECH OF THE RELATION BETWEEN THEORY AND PRACTICE IN THE PORTUGUESE TEACHER FORMATION
Abstract
This study aims to analyze meaning effects arising from Language and Literature students’ discourse on the relationship between theory and practice. Our hypothesis is that the training of prospective teachers is discursively signified and their professional identity is provisionally constructed. The privileged space to explicit such a relationship is internship, where meanings learned in college meet knowledge practiced in real teaching. Oral interviews and internship reports are our main data sources. We adopt a socio-historical perspective of language at the interface with the field of education. The analyzed data suggest the existence of a discursive regularity in the voices of the students, in which the relationship between theory and practice is segmented by two different time-spaces of the Portuguese teacher training
