The changes in the state and social and economic sphere influencing the essence of library as social institute – mutual relations between libraries and society are considered. Main innovative approaches to quality management of information services, corresponding to modern tasks and functions of library activities are characterized. Application of the approaches described in practice will allow managing the quality of library services more effectively.
