Krakow bishops and appointments at the Department of Theology of the Jagiellonian University (1880–1939)

Abstract

Restored in 1880, the Department of Theology of the Jagiellonian University grew quickly and achieved a significant scholarly position as early as the end of the 19th century. Krakow bishops played an important role in the development of the faculty. State and church legislation granted them a deciding voice in the selection of the teaching staff.
