Fantasías de la lengua en la narrativa de Dante Medina
Abstract
Ibero-American storytelling has manifested very enriching transformations in the fiction of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Our paper examines the experimental contributions—language play, linguistic transgression, lexical innovation—employed by the Mexican writer Dante Medina in his postmodern fantastic tales, a narrative mode that manifests new literary genres: In Retratos de hombres mínimos (1994) ‘minicuentos’; in Cómo perder amigos (1994) ‘cuentininos’ and ‘palabrarios’; in Yo soy la bestia (2002) ‘poecuentos’; and in Ir, volver y… qué darse (2003) a ‘cuentonela’.
