Emine Sevgi Özdamar’s Novel « The Bridge of the Golden Horn », which was published in 1998, tells the story of a young Turkish woman who came to Germany as an immigrant worker. The events in the novel take place in two different countries and cultures : Germany and Turkey. They illustrate the development of the identity and culture of the young woman, who is in a third space between the culture where she was born and the foreign culture that she wants to embrace. The word „Diamants » in the novel symbolizes the virginity of the woman and, at the same time, the borderline between her culture and the western culture. Throughout the first part of the novel, she tries to lose those diamonds in order to become an actress. When she was about to lose them, a doubling of the self-happened, in which the young woman viewed her other self as a foreign girl. In this article, I tried to demonstrate that this doubling opens an In-betweenspace that shows the struggles of the crossing of the cultural border and the relinquishment of the cultural utopia of the untouched body of a woman.
