The research problem concerns which model of democracy is desirable in view of the institutional and political crisis observed today. The analysis performed is monographic. Two models of political participation are evidenced here: the liberal democracy whose main characteristics are competition and political participation and the democracy recommended by Jacques Rancière through the political practice that operates from the contribution of the popular classes to the installation of public spaces. The democratic crisis is addressed by exposing an annual study that investigates the democracy index in most countries. The paper ends by demonstrating at the end the need to maintain the premises of liberal democracy as a means of defending the very rules of the democratic game.
