About institutions and not only

Abstract

The article answers a number of questions related to the use of the "Institute" category in economic research. The author reveals the main stages of the formation of the concept of "Institute", separately focuses on the issue of scientific novelty, which was introduced by the American economist T. Veblen in the understanding of institutions as the basis of economic behavior. It is shown, that institutes are considered, on the one hand, assamples of economic behavior, and with another - as rules, norms and the mechanisms providing their observance. The heuristic potential of the institutionalism reveals on an example of disclosing of the internal maintenance of institutionalization. Perspective character ofsuch direction of researches, as the analysis of formation of institutes of market economy in modern Russia is marked.
