The system of control chemical and radioactive pollution of marine environment parameters in the location areas of potentially hazardous underwater objects
Abstract
The designed system for long-term operational environmental monitoring of aquatic environment at the locations of r potentially hazard underwater objects in sea ice conditions in the Arctic seas of the Russian Federation is described. The system based on the autonomous bottom stations that measure levels of radiation and chemical pollution of the environment and transmit information through radio and hydroacoustic communication channels. In addition to the autonomous bottom station, the system may include dropping radiosonobuoys, floating radio buoys and an under-ice autonomous floating antenna transmitting unit for bringing the radio transmitter antenna to the sea ice surface. There are two options for installing the system with different operating algorithms, including periodic transmission of information upon request. The advantages and disadvantages of possible communication channels are described. Taking into account the experience of foreign developments, the possibility of using unmanned aerial vehicles as a means of delivering radiosonobuoys and data, collected by the system, is justified. An emergency mode of operation of the system is provided when an excess of permissible levels of radiation and chemical contamination is detected with immediate transmission of a signal via a satellite alarm communication channel to monitoring and decision-making center.
