Onomastique et statut des immigrés syro-palestiniens dans l’Égypte du Moyen Empire
Abstract
As a land of immigration from prehistoric times, Egypt took in many ethnic groups from neighbouring regions. Nubians, Libyans and people from a vast Near Eastern area greatly contributed to the increase of the population within Egyptian borders. This paper is devoted to the issue of the name change of Syro-Palestinians and its significance, with emphasis on a particularly revealing document from the eighteenth century BCE.
