Based on the observation of the interrelationship between the metaphorical and the ideological functioning in idem per idem propositions – which follow the “X is X” formula –, this paper discusses the notions of preconstructed and transversal discourse, as related to interdiscourse, and their implications in reading practices. Such functioning is characterized by the indefectibility of preconstructed and by the relation established with transversal discourses that explain both evidence and floating meanings. It also considers the difference between the already-said and the preconstructed and the effects of estrangement and invisibility which follow.
