La fortaleza andalusí de Cerro Calvario (La Puebla de Castro, Huesca)
Abstract
The article presents an analysis of the building techniques and the layout of the Hispano-Muslim stronghold we have been excavating since 2003 on the Cerro Calvario (La Puebla de Castro, Huesca). The peculiarity of this stronghold lies in its perfectly regular trapezoid layout, a unity of measure, the ma’ muni cubit, and architectural techniques typical of the califal era. Such elements suggest that the stronghold was an ≪ official ≫ initiative from the Cordouan authority on the northern border of the Upper March of al-Andalus, and carried out in the Xth century.
