Purpose. The purpose of the article is to examine the certain, most influential areas of theoretical research of the phenomenon of social solidarity in modern social science. Methodology. Methods of comparative analysis, generalization and typologization are used. Results. In reference to the works of the classics in social science, especially the ideas of O. Comte, several areas of the theoretical study of solidarity are examined. Those include, first of all, the most influential and manifested topics in the academic literature, such as the foundations of the solidarity itself, solidarity in the context of the moral aspects and analysis of the procedural characteristics of consolidation as a result of the process of social interaction and social communication. Modern theoretical studies of social solidarity are characterized by the exclusion of the division of labor and violence, the actualization of the role of conscious formation of consolidation, and the lasting significance of collective values in the form of moral aspects of solidarity. Practical implications. The obtained results can be used to elaborate both the theoretical and applied research of the phenomenon of social solidarity, serve as teaching materials on general courses in educational practice in social sciences.
