The Second Vatican Council, and especially Dignitatis Humanae, marked the beginning of the slow separation between the Church and General Franco Regime. In the secular sphere, this process was undertaken mainly with the episode known as “Catholic Action Crisis”. The leaders of the apostolate resigned in 1968, after several years characterized for the lack of understanding between them and the Episcopal Conference. Following, PROLESA was founded under Salvador Sánchez-Terán direction, an association which served as legal protection to create a pro-democracy group. In this article, we will deepen the study of those events, as well as show the role of those people during the Spanish Transition.
