Technical note on poultry development policy in Mali. In Mali each villager is an unknown poultry raiser whereas poultry raising is a source of foreign exchange. It is a threaten wealth which does not get the necessary investment priority. The poultry subsector has suffered for a long time from lethargy because of lack of coherent policies. Two types of poultry activities do exist in Mali, the local poultry raising, extensive and improved, which represents 90-95 % of chickens and all secondary poultry such as guinea fowls, ducks, turkeys... and modem poultry raising, which stays at the embryonic stage, represents 2-5 % of the national flock. The Mali is in need of cheaply proteins that are protein from poultry to better fight malnutrition of protein and calorie origin which exists in all its regions and among all ethnie groups of the countryand to improve quantitatively and qualitatively populations alimentary intakes.
