A deposit with magnesite - talc mineralisation was explored northerly of the Gemerská Poloma, Rožòava district, Slovakia, in the years 1988 - 1995. Magnesites in the gemericum unit are only sporadically accompanied by talc. The geological structure of this deposit contradicts accepted theories. The deposit is, beside talc and magnesite, composed of dolomite, quartz and chloritic shales. In the magnesite body there is a very intensive manifestation of steatitization. Talc has outstanding quality and is present in irregular veins up to few dm thick, but magnesite is not applicable for industrial purposes because of a high Fe-content in the lattice.
