Zeolite-encapsulated catalysts are superior catalysts with good catalytic performance in various reactions. There are numerous methods to manufacture zeolite-encapsulated catalysts, with hydrothermal being one of the most favorable processes. The use of appropriate methods possibly achieves the desired shell coverage of the zeolite-encapsulated catalysts that were produced. In this review paper, we comprehensively discussed various synthesis methods to produce zeolite-encapsulated catalysts, not limited to core-shell, yolk-shell, and hollow structures. Additionally, we present the performance of zeolite-encapsulated catalysts for biomass conversion, in which zeolite as a core demonstrated good product selectivity on biomass pyrolysis, and metal can provide additional catalytic activity to modify certain products. As an outcome, the current issue is to cultivate the biomass and convert it into valuable compounds through zeolite-encapsulated catalysts.
